CareGinie is designed to help families coordinate care for parents, elders and dependent adults. This may involve sensitive personal and health-related information. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully.

By using CareGinie, creating an account, joining a Care Circle, uploading information, using Ask Ginie, subscribing to a plan or inviting others, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

We may process document metadata, extracted text, classifications, summaries and linked medicine or appointment information.

Ask Ginie and AI interactions

Offline Care Essentials

CareGinie may store a limited offline snapshot on your device, such as:

  • Elder basics
  • Today and next 7 days medicine schedule
  • Emergency contacts
  • Preferred hospital
  • Upcoming appointments
  • Last synced timestamp

This helps show essential care information if the device is offline.

Payment and subscription information

When payments are enabled, we may collect or process:

  • Plan type
  • Billing status
  • Add-on pack purchases
  • Credit usage
  • Payment transaction reference
  • Invoice or receipt details
  • Payment provider status

Full payment instrument details may be processed by third-party payment providers and may not be stored by CareGinie.

4. How we collect information

We collect information when:

  • You create or update an account
  • You create or join a Care Circle
  • You invite or manage members
  • You add medicines manually
  • You scan or upload documents
  • You create appointments
  • You ask Ginie questions
  • You use voice or mic features
  • You interact with notifications or messages
  • You subscribe, cancel or purchase add-ons
  • The app generates logs, analytics or diagnostics
  • Third-party providers send us status updates, such as payment or messaging delivery status

5. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Authenticate users and provide login help
  • Manage Care Circles, roles and permissions
  • Show medicines, reminders and schedules
  • Store and organise records
  • Link medicines to prescriptions
  • Create appointments and care reminders
  • Provide Ask Ginie AI assistance
  • Process voice or text interactions
  • Send notifications, invites, reminders and alerts
  • Provide Offline Care Essentials
  • Support subscriptions, credits, add-ons and billing
  • Improve safety, reliability and usability
  • Troubleshoot errors and prevent misuse
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Respond to support, privacy and grievance requests

6. Consent, authority and lawful use

If you provide information about another person, including a parent, elder, family member, caregiver or dependent adult, you confirm that you have permission, authority or a legitimate care relationship to do so.

You must not upload or share another person’s personal, medical or care-related information unless you are authorised to do so.

Where required, CareGinie relies on consent or other lawful grounds to process personal data. You may withdraw consent where applicable, but this may affect your ability to use certain features.

7. Sharing within the Care Circle

CareGinie is designed for shared family care coordination. Information may be visible to Care Circle members depending on their roles and permissions.

For example, Care Circle members may be able to see:

  • Medicine schedules
  • Records
  • Appointments
  • Emergency contacts
  • Care updates
  • Uploaded documents
  • Activity history

Admins or owners are responsible for inviting trusted people and assigning appropriate roles.

8. Sharing with service providers

We may share information with trusted service providers who help us operate CareGinie.

These may include providers for:

  • Authentication
  • Database and storage
  • Hosting
  • AI processing
  • OCR and document processing
  • Messaging, email, SMS and WhatsApp
  • Analytics and diagnostics
  • Payment processing
  • Customer support

Examples may include Supabase for authentication, database and storage; AI model providers for summaries and assistance; Twilio or similar providers for SMS/WhatsApp; and payment providers when payments are enabled.

Service providers may process information only as needed to provide their services to CareGinie, subject to their own obligations and agreements.

9. AI processing

When you use Ask Ginie, prescription scanning, report explanation or similar AI features, your messages, uploaded text, extracted document content, medicine information or care context may be processed by AI systems.

AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for your situation.

You should avoid entering unnecessary sensitive information into AI features. You should not use AI responses as medical advice or a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional.

10. Communications

CareGinie may contact users through:

  • In-app notifications
  • Email
  • SMS
  • WhatsApp
  • Phone links or device features, where applicable

Communications may include:

  • Account updates
  • Login help
  • Invite links
  • Medicine reminders
  • Missed medicine alerts
  • Appointment reminders
  • Care Circle updates
  • Emergency/help alerts
  • Billing and subscription notices
  • Product updates

You may manage certain communication preferences in the app, but some service, security or account messages may still be necessary.

11. Offline data on your device

CareGinie may store limited care essentials locally on your device so that basic information is available offline.

This may include:

  • Elder name or initials
  • Today’s medicines
  • Next 7 days medicines
  • Emergency contacts
  • Preferred hospital
  • Last synced timestamp

CareGinie does not intentionally cache full prescription images, lab report PDFs, insurance documents or complete medical records for offline use by default.

Offline data may remain on the device until you sign out, switch users, clear browser/app storage, uninstall the app or the device/browser clears the data.

If you use a shared device, please sign out after use.

12. Payment and billing data

When paid features are enabled, CareGinie may process billing information such as:

  • Plan selected
  • Subscription status
  • Billing period
  • Cancellation status
  • Add-on purchase history
  • Credit usage
  • Payment status and transaction reference

Payments may be handled by third-party payment processors. CareGinie may receive transaction status, but full payment instrument details are generally handled by the payment provider.

13. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. These may include:

  • Authentication
  • Role-based access controls
  • Secure links
  • Access permissions
  • Encrypted transport where supported
  • Limited offline snapshots
  • Service monitoring
  • Security improvements over time

No system is completely secure. You are responsible for using secure devices, keeping login details safe and signing out on shared devices.

14. Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to:

  • Provide CareGinie services
  • Maintain your account or Care Circle
  • Support medicines, records and appointments
  • Meet legal, security or accounting requirements
  • Resolve disputes
  • Prevent misuse
  • Maintain backups for a limited period

If you request deletion, we will review and process the request subject to applicable law, technical feasibility, legal retention requirements, backups and legitimate business needs.

15. Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law, you may request:

  • Access to your personal data
  • Correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Deletion of personal data
  • Withdrawal of consent where applicable
  • Information about how your data is used

If your request relates to information about another person in a Care Circle, we may need to verify your authority or relationship before making changes.

16. Children and dependent adults

CareGinie is intended for adult users and family care coordination.

If information about a child, elder, parent or dependent adult is added, the user adding the information must have appropriate permission, parental authority, guardianship authority, consent or lawful basis.

CareGinie does not knowingly invite children to manage Care Circles.

17. Data breach

If CareGinie becomes aware of a data breach affecting users, we will take reasonable steps to investigate, reduce harm and notify affected users and authorities where required by applicable law.

18. International processing

Some service providers may process data outside India. Where applicable, CareGinie will take reasonable steps to use service providers and safeguards consistent with applicable law.

19. Data deletion and account closure

You may request account deletion or Care Circle data deletion by contacting support@careginie.com.

Deletion may affect other Care Circle members and the availability of shared records, medicines and appointments.

Some information may remain for legal, security, billing, backup or dispute-resolution purposes where permitted or required.

20. Marketing and product communication

CareGinie may send product updates, feature announcements or beta feedback requests.

You may opt out of non-essential marketing messages where available. Service, security, care-related or account messages may still be sent where necessary.

21. Third-party links and services

CareGinie may link to third-party services, payment providers, messaging providers, hospitals, labs, pharmacies or external resources.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content or services of third parties. Please review their policies before using them.

22. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new “Last updated” date.

If changes are material, we may provide additional notice where required.

Your continued use of CareGinie after changes means you accept the updated Privacy Policy, subject to applicable law.
